Souper Bowl of Caring Sunday - February 2nd

More than 20 years ago, Souper Bowl of Caring began with a simple prayer from a single youth group:

“Lord, as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us to be mindful of those without even a bowl of soup to eat.”

Since that day, more than 90 million has been raised for local charities across the country tackling hunger through Souper Bowl of Caring.  It has become a powerful movement that is transforming the time around Super Bowl weekend into the nation’s largest celebration of giving and serving.  Through this mission, young people learn what it’s like to make a positive difference in the world - as they collect food and raise money and volunteer to work in charities that provide shelter to the homeless, food to the hungry and compassion to those in need. Be part of this movement that is sharing God’s love with those in need.  As you exit the sanctuary after worship, please drop your coins or a dollar bill into soup pots held by our young friends on Souper Bowl Sunday, February 2.  All funds donated will be given to Presbyterian Mission. The Souper Bowl of Caring collection will be joined with funds from our Peace Fellowship to purchase a well that will provide clean water for an entire community. Cans of food will be used to stock the North Helpline Food Bank.

Be part of this movement that is sharing God’s love with those in in need.   Please drop a dollar or two on Super Bowl Sunday into the soup pots held by our youngest on your way out of worship.   This year, the Youth Group has decided to give the funds collected to Packs for Kids at Eckstein Middle School, a weekend backpack food distribution program serving 80 plus children at Eckstein.
