Drive Less Sunday - September 19th

Earth Ministry, a local Christian organization has started a new program called “Caring for All Creation: On the Road, At the Table, In the Home.” This program highlights the three areas in which individuals can have the greatest beneficial impact on God’s creation: through our transportation, food, and home-maintenance choices.

On Sunday, September 19 our congregation will join in the “On the Road” portion of this program through our celebration of Drive Less Sunday. Drive Less Sunday is an opportunity to celebrate the blessings that come from giving God’s creation a rest, as well as giving us the chance to slow down and strengthen relationships with one another.

On Drive Less Sunday, please consider carpooling, biking, walking, riding public transportation, or finding some other creative way to get to worship. If you live a distance away and it would be a challenge for you to carpool, we still want you to worship with us because we will be celebrating and calculating our saved traveled miles as a total congregation. In the coming weeks there will be an opportunity for you to sign up after worship in the Fireside Room if you would like to carpool, walk, bus, or bike with someone else on September 19th, Drive Less Sunday. Also, there will be a sandwich luncheon, bike rodeo and more events happening that day to celebrate Drive Less Sunday, so this would be a great time to invite a friend to church.
